It’s totally normal to be sceptical about something that sits outside the mainstream approach to healing. So, is DNRS legit?

More and more success stories and studies are backing up its effectiveness. And while some critics might say DNRS lacks scientific validation, the impressive personal stories from countless users (me included) speak for themselves.

My DNRS Review

Why I Started DNRS

I first discovered DNRS while browsing forums dedicated to those struggling with autoimmune issues and conditions relating to nervous system dysregulation. A decent number of people were discussing what a game-changer DNRS was for those battling food and chemical sensitivities. Both of these things were HUGE ongoing issues for me. The reviews were promising, and quite frankly I was prepared to try anything. I had already poured a considerable amount of money into my health journey, and DNRS didn’t seem any more costly than other avenues I had explored.

Initial thoughts

I enrolled in the program, and Annie’s personal journey immediately resonated with me. The program’s foundation presented the basics of neuroplasticity in a way anyone could understand. Grasping the mechanics of the program was surprisingly enjoyable for someone who flunked biology, and it was incredibly inspiring and motivational.

The DNRS Exercises

After some initial background, the program gradually introduced the exercises and steps.

It started with some general tips to practice at all times – like watching the language you chose to use around symptoms, and catching unhealthy patterns of rumination.

Then, it moved into the core DNRS exercises. These exercises are known as “rounds” and follow a specific sequence of actions matched with words, followed by a set of visualizations. These “rounds” are where you create an opportunity to challenge your triggers slowly, and change the way your brain responds to them.

At first, I thought I would never remember the steps, but with a few rounds of repetition, they just became second nature and pretty effortless. Don’t worry – it’s all very simple and Annie talks you through all of it.

Once I had nailed the routine, and came to terms with looking like I was directing air traffic, I began practicing as often as I could.

Typically, each exercise session lasted around 20 minutes. I made sure to find breaks during my day to slot the rounds in, and they quickly became something I looked forward to.

I would also stop periodically throughout the day to run through my script if I were being triggered.

While the program recommends practicing for an hour a day, for six months, I couldn’t always find enough time. However, I committed to practicing for at least 40 minutes a day and did manage the full six months.

The Results

It took around a month of consistent practice before I noticed subtle yet significant changes:

  • I no longer reacted as strongly to stimuli that previously overwhelmed me. It was as if my hyper-sensitive responses had been dialed down.
  • I could enter a grocery store without feeling on the brink of passing out from the sensory overload of cleaning products, noise, and bright lights.
  • I could introduce certain fragrances into my home without suffering from headaches.
  • I could eat a few more foods without reacting.
  • I became increasingly aware of my triggers, identified old thought patterns, and learned how to replace them.

And the more I practiced, the more these symptoms eased.

Engaging in the exercises started to bring me what I can only describe as a feeling of intense joy, and I often found myself experiencing moments of pure bliss during the visualizations. This newfound happiness began to filter into my daily life, replacing negative thought patterns with positivity.

I ended up practicing for approximately eight months, occasionally returning to the exercises whenever I felt the need for a boost. And I still do it now.

My biggest wins after 8 months were:

  • Improvement in food sensitivities
  • Vast improvement in sensitivities to fragrances and chemicals
  • Reduced light sensitivity
  • Reduced sound sensitivity
  • Increased awareness of my unhealthy thought patterns
  • Less spells of dizziness and vertigo
  • Better social functioning

Do I Recommend The Program?

If you are willing to commit to a consistent practice, this program may be an excellent choice for regulating your nervous system. Dedication and repetition are the keys to solidifying these life-changing transformations though.

I also personally found this program to be very effective because of how my brain is wired. For me, getting lost in the experience of the exercises and visualizations was very grounding and supportive. It brought about a sense of calm and ease in my body that I have struggled to find with other practices. It even helped my regulate my breathing where other practices have failed.

If you struggle deeply with concentration, or using your imagination, this program may feel like a chore. And if a daily dedicated time commitment doesn’t feel realistic, you may want to pass on this – for now.

Instead we recommend starting with a few hands on practices, or a using a wearable solution instead – such as the Apollo Neuro. Apollo is a great option for those looking to kickstart their journey to regulation with minimal effort.

Of course, a wearable isn’t going to completely eradicate serious levels of dysregulation, but it may at least get you to the point that you can handle a complete program like DNRS.

Who is The Dynamic Neural Retraining System NOT for?

As with all healing modalities, one size does not fit all. And although my experience with the dynamic neural retraining system was positive, that may not be the case for everyone.

I entered into DNRS after years of working on my health in a variety of ways, with a fair understanding of my traumas and triggers, and how to handle setbacks.

Although DNRS provides a fully supportive space and all the tools you need to retrain your brain, the program may not be right for you if you are coming to it from a place of deep, unresolved trauma and you don’t have the resources or support around you to help you through any uncomfortable changes that may result. As always, be sure to do your own research.

The Dynamic Neural Retraining System may be a ground-breaking approach to regulating the nervous system through brain retraining.
